State Congress 2010, held at Jupiters Casino, Townsville is now done but not quite dusted. The State still needs a Deputy State President and the machine is already grinding to ensure ths is rectified as soon as the process allows.
All Sub Branches belonging to Gold Coast District were represented and everyone in attendance appeared to be happy with all arrangements and decisions made. I feel certain that all would agree it made a huge comfort difference to be accommodated in the Congress venue and not to have to worry about transport.
The business sessions were conducted quickly with the only point of contention being the process for selecting the next Deputy State President. V.P. Rodger Bow gave a thorough explanation of the selection process and the logic behind it and this appeared to satisfy all in attendance.
The seating arrangements for dinner were an interesting mix with most people having to get to know someone from another Sub Branch/District. It was a good way to meet new people but it did make some in attendance a little anxious when they were separated from their partners. This was corrected eventually and a little seat swapping appeared to fix the problems.
Each State Congress has it's own reasons for being remembered and 2010 will be no exception. .
