The Gold Coast District Annual Congress Dinner was held at Southport RSL, February 12th 2011.  One hundred and twenty people attended the dinner , including State President Mr Doug Formby and Mrs Formby, State Deputy President, Mr Terry Meehan and Mrs Sue Meehan, Past President Mr Glen Mylne LLB(Hons) and Mrs Domnique Mylne, CEO Mr Chris McHugh and Mrs Marie McHugh, Federal  Member for McPherson Karen Andrews MP and Dr Christopher Andrews, Deputy Commisioner DVA Mrs Alison Stanley, Manager GC VAN, Ms Nikki Wood, District President Sunshine Coast, Mr Kerry Cook and Mrs Helen Cook, District Secretary Sunshine Coast, Mrs Kath Barry and Mr Andrew Barry and Mr John Sherrington OAM and Mrs Delma Sherrington from Brisbane North District who have become regular visitors to the Gold Coast.

2011 saw the entrance of a new District Executive headed by District President  Elect, Mr Selwyn Hannant, Senior Vice President Mr John Brookes and Vice President (Veterans' Support) Mr Mike Fitzgerald.

Outgoing President Mr Peter Franklin OAM was thanked for his  contribution   to the advancement of the Gold Coast District over the pst four years  as well as for his contribution  to RSL Queensland as a State Director. He was presented with an engraved sextant and Certificate of Appreciation from the District.

Outgoing Vice President (Veterans' Support) Mr Ralph Thompson was presented with an engraved pen and Certificate of Appreciation for his contribution to the Veteran Community and Gold Coast District  over the past six years. 

Outgoing Senior Vice President, Mr Norm Kelly was also presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for his contribution to the District and Australia Day Certificates and medallions were presented to Mr Ralph Thompson, Mr Stephen Boyle, Mr Gordon Armstrong and Mrs Barbara Addison for their ongoing and outstanding contributions to their communities.

Sub Branches  and Miss Jessica Orchard were also acknowledged with Certificates for their contributions to the Care Parcel Program
